As part of our continuous leaning about Healthy Eating, Year 3 were lucky enough to hear how to become like Popeye and unveil our superpowers! Yara Makhoul, a nutritionist, told the children and teachers alike to steer clear of junk food and sugar (although we can have it on special occasions - everything in moderation!) and told us how we can eat a balanced diet to help us to become as healthy as possible. The children listened extremely well to how they should be drinking at least 5-6 glasses of water a day and eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables. Another great piece of advice is to exercise every day doing something you love such as jumping, running, football, dancing - just keep moving! One thing that came through clearly was NO FIZZY DRINKS! Hopefully your child will be able to tell you why! To further their understanding, the children explored Mrs Makhoul's free iPad app, The Magic Meal, where they met different characters and played games, all good fun whilst learning the importance of healthy eating.
