Primary House Celebration – Falcon house
Competition is fierce this month as competitors in each house have been taking part in Hula Hoop competitions, AR Reading and Book reviews, as well as house matches and French quizzes. What a busy time, individual winners for effort and golden points have been rewarded with a delicious 'Breakfast with the Stars' event with house leaders and Mrs Jo Bailey-Black. Every month, the winning house from Year 1-6 will celebrate the most house points achieved with a special colour celebration. This will involve the children of the winning house, being allowed to wear their own clothes linked to their house colour. This month's house winners were Falcon, therefore the children in that house only will need to wear something RED on Thursday 23rd November.

This morning during assembly the Year 3 Times Tables House competition was launched. Over the next few weeks all maths groups in Year 3 will focus on the 2s, 5s and 10 times tables, both multiplication and division.
Today, to start the competition, all children were tested on the 2 times tables. Questions were quick-fire and included sums like: 2 x 3, how many 2s in 16, 10 divided by 2 etc. it is important that children can answer a variety of both multiplication and division questions instantly, to ensure they have a good grasp of the times table. Those children who scored full marks today will colour the 2 x tables star in the back of their Planner and will have their name written on the corresponding number on their House window in the Year 3 Area. If they didn't quite manage it today, they will have another chance on Sunday. Names will be totalled and the winning House will be announced next Monday. Effort points will be awarded as follows: Ist place - 40 pts 2nd place: 30 pts 3rd place: 20 pts 4th place: 10 pts We will move on to the 5 and 10 time tables soon. Start practising those tables to make sure your House wins lots of Effort Points. Why not try some of the interactive games on the Maths page or ask your family to help with some quick fire questions at home? It's a great way to gain those valuable Effort Points for your House and to learn your times tables at the same time! Good luck and may the best House win! |
